Can you have an 8th grade boyfriend in 6th grade?

ok I am in 6th grade and kinda like this boy in my cl but he is shorter then me. My friend and I go to the guys in our cl's bball games on fridays. They are always really cute 7th and 8th graders there. My friend and I want maybe want to talk and maybe go out with some. How should he start a convirsation with them? Should I even try? Is is bad to have an 8th grade bf? dont tell me im too young!!!!
