I need help with articles (a/an/the)?

It's "an", and the "h" after is silent. It's the same with most nouns beginning with "h": an hotel, an hostess... I know it sounds wrong, and most English people mispronounce it because they think only chavs talk like that, when it is actually Queen's English.
